Current Series: Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Here in America, we enjoy religious freedom, but around the world more Christians have been killed for their faith in the last 100 years than the first 1900 years of church history combined.  This Sunday will be an opportunity to remember our brothers and sisters around the world in prayer, and obtain a new awareness of the plight of Christians worldwide.

Verses to tell us how to pray

2 Thessalonians 3:1-2

1 Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.  2And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith.

Hebrews 13:3

3 Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

Matthew: 25:40

40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Galatians 6:2

2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Isaiah 58:8-14

8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
      and your healing will quickly appear;
   then your righteousness will go before you,
      and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
      you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
  "If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
      with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
      and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
   then your light will rise in the darkness,
      and your night will become like the noonday.
11 The LORD will guide you always;
      he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
      and will strengthen your frame.
   You will be like a well-watered garden,
      like a spring whose waters never fail.
12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
      and will raise up the age-old foundations;
   you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
      Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.
13 "If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
      and from doing as you please on my holy day,
   if you call the Sabbath a delight
      and the LORD's holy day honorable,
   and if you honor it by not going your own way
      and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
14 then you will find your joy in the LORD,
      and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land
      and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob."
   The mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Ephesians 6:18

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Proverbs 24:11-12

11 Rescue those being led away to death;
      hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
12 If you say, "But we knew nothing about this,"
      does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
   Does not he who guards your life know it?
      Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

Psalms 82:2-4

2 "How long will you defend the unjust
      and show partiality to the wicked?
   Selah
3 3 Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless;
      maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
4 4 Rescue the weak and needy;
      deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
